Britney Spears came to Ottawa, Ontario to support her Circus tour with Kristina DeBarge and Girlicious as opening acts. I was definitely out of my element for this show. In the parkig lot, girls are screaming and singing, I think I was the only guy there with long hair. lol. Many of these girls were dressed in their hootchie mama outfits, and if I ever caught my 16 year old daughter wearing some of this stuff, she would be not leaving the house for a longtime!
By the time we got in, and got some drinks, we missed Kristina DeBarge, but she only sang maybe 3 songs. We watched some of Girlicious, which was mostly boot shakin', dancing, and running around the stage.
Britney's show started off with a circus show. There was a guy spining around in a hullahoop, a guy spining this fence around, a little person walking around, martial arts guys doing a routine, this girl without legs flipping on a trampoline with a partner, and this other girl standing on a long board held by 2 guys, being launched in to the air, flipping and landing back on the board again... all very cool to watch. Britney started the shw off with her song Circus. The show was actually really well done. She had great choreography with all her dancers, great effects, and in between "acts" there was intermissions so she could switch outfits, but there was always videos playing on the screen, or circus entertainers to continue to give us something to watch during these intermissions. During one, she actually played Marilyn Manson's Sweet Dreams with a littel dance beat to a video on the big screen just before her "FreakShow" segment. Britney was part of a magic show at one point, she disappeared from a box (which she dropped through the floor, and had another girl go up (to show her legs so we think Britney is still in there) then Britney disappeared and immediately appeared on the oposite side of the stage. Another trick, she was in a box and the magician pushed blades through the box and Britney, then separated the boxes. I can't explain that one!
I really enjoyed the show, Britney was a great performer, however she did not sing (all recorded), and she only said "What's up Ottawa" twice and thanked us for coming. She was not very personal with the audience. Other then that, great show! I am surprised I liked it. From the last concert I saw which was Slipknot in Montreal, to the next concert we are going to which is Marilyn Manson, again at Scotiabank Place here in Ottawa, and Britney Spears tonight, one extreme to the other....
Here are some videos we took at the show. Quality isn't very good since they were taken from our still camera.
